I provide comprehensive counsel to people with elder law concerns, focusing on issues involving:
- Estate planning and asset protection — I will help you understand the different strategies for avoiding probate, including the re-titling of property and the use of trusts to distribute assets. I will prepare all the necessary documents to put your plan in place, including wills and trusts, powers of attorney and health care surrogates. I will also assist you with obtaining Medicaid benefits while protecting your assets from seizure by nursing home and long-term care facilities.
- Probate administration — I work with executors, administrators, personal representatives and heirs, helping them settle the estates of loved ones through the probate process. I will assist you with the preparation of an inventory of the assets of the estate, payment of all final debts and taxes, and the orderly distribution of assets under a will.
- Guardianships — If you have a loved one who can no longer manage his or her affairs, I will help you take the necessary measures to establish a guardianship, granting you or a third party the legal authority to act on that person's behalf.
